Finding Happiness on the Other Side of Pain

During his career in the Navy, Marty performed physical work. He worked where it was extremely hot and moved a lot of heavy equipment. That work took a toll, leaving him with severe back pain.

“I worked in the engine room,” Marty says. “The temperature was 120 to 130 degrees. I worked on everything. I tore pumps and valves apart, worked on generators and the main engines. I would sometimes carry pump shafts that weighed 250 pounds.”

Uncovering an Old Injury

Years later, Marty underwent an MRI and discovered that the cause of his back pain could be traced back to his work in the Navy many years before.  

“The doctor told me I probably broke my back for the first time somewhere in the past,” says Marty. “I said, well. That must have happened when I was in the Navy.”

Marty now experienced pain that prevented him from doing things he had always done before without any trouble.

“I always relied on my strength, and I couldn't rely on that anymore,” Marty says. “They told me I had to retire or die working because I was overloading my body. I hated to do it. I thought, what am I gonna do when I retire?”

Before Marty started using this machine, he couldn't work on or comfortably drive his tractor. Now, he can ride around as he pleases and move through life without limitations. As a result, his happiness has skyrocketed.

“This thing is a dream come true to me. I wish that I had it 20 years ago. I can go four days and not feel any pain in my back, unless I do something stupid,” he says. “My happiness level has skyrocketed. The pain, I mean, I’m not going to say it's totally gone, but it's 100 percent better than what it was before I started using this machine.”
